New Cardi

Astute or regular readers of this blog will know that I used to live next door to Michelle and her mister before I moved to this house. I lost touch with them when she and the mister also moved, to a suburb close by, coincidentally. Even better, I ran across her again when she commented on Ampersand Duck's blog. We always say it's a small town, but it's also a small blogosphere apparently. Thank you for this lovely gift Michelle!

In other news the baby is sleeping right now (finally!), so this is all happening one-handed. Lovely Ampersand Duck went to Garth Nix's book launch and picked up a copy of his latest, Superior Saturday. My association with Garth goes way back - his family were good friends with my best friend's family, so we did stuff with them sometimes, and as an 8 year old I had a HUGE crush on his youngest brother. Thank you Ms Duck!

D'Arcy's wonderful new teacher is leaving at the end of the week, and we don't know who will replace her. We're getting a bit pissed off with the constant personnel changes, particularly for this group of kids, who were initially placed with the first wonderful teacher for very real reasons. So that will be three teachers in three terms, which is too mny in my book.

The beloved is trying to organise getting his aged mother over here, which is proving to be a headache for all kinds of reasons, not least that she has a cataract operation that needs to be scheduled.

My neck hurts like buggery from having to hold Erik in the sling so he'll sleep for a decent amount of time. Only occasionally will he skeep if I put him in the pram, or the bed or the bassinette - and even in the sling he wakes up a bit every 20 mins or so and needs me to walk around to put him back to sleep.

That's about it for now.

I'm so glad we found each other again!

Love the photo with Erik in the cardi. He looks so handsome!

Look after your neck - maybe Beloved needs to give you regular neck massages ;-)

It was nice to find you too! Such a surprise! I'm in for neck massages, but there hasn't been much time for that lately. I have a physio appointment next week (yay). Erik does look lovely in the cardi, and he's only spewed on it a little bit.

Gosh, who didn't have a crush on that youngest Nix boy! I joined the club years later.

It is a beautiful cardigan, lots of sea-greens. I saw it with my own eyes. Well done, Michelle! I wish my mum still knitted, I'd get her to copy it for me :)

Ha ha, it took me a minute to figure out what is a "cardi" -- but it is gorgeous. And so is the baby! I'm so glad he's sleeping.

The blogosphere does feel small sometimes. I was recently reunited with an old friend who moved away several years ago. She found me on Facebook and it turned out she was blogging too. Now we're happily back in touch, which would never have happened without the internet.

Whoops, I must have clicked the wrong button. That last comment was from me (Julie).

Beautiful boy and great sweater. I hope the sleeping evens out a little bit-I think, like labor, it's hard to remember how hard that can be once you're past it (it's all kind of a blur for me).

And are you liking the new Nix book? I loved the Abhorsen books but have felt kind of "eh" about the Keys series.

And how's fatherhood treating the Beloved and brotherhood treating all D?

Love to all

Duck - even better than that, it's crocheted! So maybe you can convince your mum to have a go! I reckon the youngest Nix is probably still crush-worthy...

Julie, you had me wondering who you were for a minute there. Yes, a "cardi" would be Aussie shorthand for "cardigan" we're a linguistically lazy people. I call Erik "Ez" all the time. Because 2 syllables is just too many. I too am loving FB - you can find me there pretty easily, if you want to. That goes for any other commenters here!

Sara, I kind of agree about the Keys to the Kingdom series, they seem a bit flabby (there's lots of text, but not a lot happens in it) But I'm still reading them, as you do. I giess I've made some kind of committment to it in my head, so I keep looking forward to the next one, even though the last one was a bit disappointing, and I can't really remember what happened, or who the second-tier characters are... Boys are going well. D is on holidays from tomorrow, and beloved went to the office today. D is sleeping on his own well now (ought to do a blog post with a pic of him with his final incentive "prize" as he calls it)
